| | Sorry for the lack of Xanga entries. There are several reasons for the lack of updates:
1. Valentine’s day was just plain wrong. Actually, I got totally rejected. That Girl just plainly said no, leave me alone. After this event, I was pretty depressed. I lost the will to study or pay attention to anyone. You see, That Girl had all the qualities I look for when I want to date someone. Those qualities in question are rather obscure compared to the standard of most men out looking for ass. My most important preference for women is that they’re deeper than just partying, actual intelligence is a must. Shyness and outgoingness must coexist at the same time. She’s got to be cute and shorter than me. PLUS have some sort of interest in Japanese animation/art. That Girl fulfilled those needs. However, it was not to be.
2. EQgirl has also taken up a lot of my time when it comes to thinking abut things. You see, I first met EQgirl last semester on the subway coming home from school. We talked, we laughed, we boarded the train, she got lonely and sat next to me and we continued all the good stuff. But like how everyone’s lives have places where the train stops at different stations, ours ended in Silverlake and it was a hell of a ride. We parted ways and thought to never see each other again. This semester I see her a lot. You see my friend’s EQgirl is a hardcore gamer and anime fan! She told me about her adventures in Ever Quest 2, and I would talk about my World of Warcraft PVP battles. She understood what I was talking about! The conversation moved from MMORPG’s to ANIME to our wanting of going to JAPAN. AND SHE’S CUTE! God does this to tease me, but maybe, just maybe, she’ll like me. ^^ You know I can’t pass this up. What if she likes street fighter?! (Begins to plan the honey moon) roflmao
3. Germ’s baby shower caught me off guard, but it was fun watching Germ have fun and her BF umm sulk in the presence of her father. Which wasn’t exactly sulking, but more of an apathetic tension between the two powerful forces of stubbornness. (Long Story and it’s not my business to tell.) After the baby shower, I was forced to contemplate the direction my life is going which equals more shit to worry about.
4. Papers, ugh…. Being an English major is starting to suck really bad.
5. Wade is moving, I can’t let that happen. (PaJamieez performs the Bangcaya bondage succession technique) Sorry Jim ^^; Me Damien and Rheagar just won’t have that kind of nonsense.
6. Snow - It’s a big distraction for me because I simply love it. When it snows I go outside and smoke, I draw in my sketch book, I write down insightful haiku’s, and drink beer. However, Rutgers makes snow not fun because they don’t close for shit. Damn Rutgers, it’ll still be open during the apocalypse. Fire and brimstone could start falling down from the sky, hell’s gate could start ripping open in New York City, and the dead would start to rise. And for some strange reason some fool is going to check if Rutgers is still having classes. That same fool will log on to the internet, hit up Rutgers’ website and see on the top right page in a little box saying: “Due to serious conditions resulting in the biblical resurrection of the savior, all 8:30 classes will be cancelled. Students and faculty will then continue on a normal schedule.” R U screwed? Damn straight.
Today’s topic: Exploring a new Anime
I first saw this topic on Megatokyo’s homepage in Piro’s blog and he was talking about having this feeling that you were going to become a fan of an anime before you even started to watch it. For instance, you happened to like the art, or it was related to something you knew, or you just simply liked the concept all before you even watched the first couple of episodes. I think everyone has these titles in their anime fandom career.
Back in the day, I got my anime from this big store that has a seven days a week indoor flea market. I had to be around the age of 10 when I first watch dragon ball z for the first time, and this was my first dip into Japanese animation. After that, word of mouth between friends established what are now classics in anime. An old friend of mine named Mark introduced me to Vampire Hunter D, while Rheagar introduced me to Fatal Fury. In essence, it was rather difficult for me to know what the anime was about before watching it. However, the concept of a Vampire Hunter seemed to hook me. And I just had to watch Fatal Fury characters in action.
Now a days are different, with the rise fan subbing groups on the internet rising each day to gain popularity among the internet elite a la masse, (kids today are so lucky) it’s possible to dig up information a certain anime before wasting precious bandwidth. One even has the option to download the first couple of episodes before devoting time and bandwidth. So while there’s so much anime in the world now a days and information just exploding literally every second of the day, few have caught made me a fan instantly. Naruto for instance, began to grow on me after the Rock Lee, Gara fight.
This does not mean that there aren’t those titles that just capture you by pure concept or execution. I became a Jinki:Extend fan almost instantly from episode one! Everything from the animation, to the opening song captured me the moment I saw it all in action. The main character is uber cute, and the supporting cast, while a little cliché; are plenty and colorful. But the real honest to god reason I became a Jinki:Extend fan? The opening theme, that thing’s addicting.
Hunter X Hunter also captured me before I even began to watch the series. It’s probably the word hunter that really drags me into the show. And not only was it about hunters, but it was a GOOD anime about hunters. Come on, to be called a hunter is just damn cool. Hunter X Hunter doesn’t disappoint.
There are many others of course, but I feel as if no one’s going to finish reading this damn xanga entry. Many of you guys don’t even like anime, so who cares? I DO!!
Future updates
- I will get back to playing World of Warcraft, damn it’s too expensive.
- I will start to find a “jub,” because I really need some money.
- I’ll talk to EQgirl, maybe she’ll like me because I’m more than just an anime fan gamer, but I’m also a really nice caring and outgoing guy. (sigh)
- Atreyu will pay me the fifty bucks he owes me. (God knows if I bet against Detroit like he did last season, he’s force me to pay him. DAMN YOU BASTARD!)
I will get The Girl, (wishful thinking)
